As
a coach I can highly recommend Jim Williams and his videotaping service. He
offers state of the art video equipment to film above water and below water for
strokes and turns. He also offers excellent commentary that is pertinent and
informative for use in the future. He then offers you the appropriate drills,
which you can use during your own practice time, which will help improve your
swimming technique.
It was obvious to me
immediately that Jim had a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to
coaching swimming technique and fitness. He went through, step-by-step, what a
good swim stroke should look like, totally emphasizing body position first, then
breaking down the actual arm stroke itself. I was amazed at how obvious many of
my technique flaws were when I watched the replay of the video at regular speed
and slow motion.
As a fitness
swimmer Jim's coaching has been indispensable to me. I am new to the sport of
swimming and after a few months of moderate effort my shoulder became so sore I
was unable to get any kind of a workout from swimming. I sought Jim's help
having read that poor technique was almost always responsible for "swimmers
shoulder" or rotator cuff problems. The video clips of my stroke above and below
water graphically showed why my shoulders hurt. Jim has cleaned up my stroke to
the point where I can swim much faster and longer and without shoulder pain.
